A movement without leaders is unlikely to cohere. Where and who are they? Democratic Governors — such as Walz, Newsome, Pritzker, Holcher and Whitmore must get together with Senators and Congressmen-women in SAVE DEMOCRACY RALLIES (or some other name) around the country. The Obamas, Clintons, Biden’s, Harrises, Al Gore…. should be there. Celebs from entertainment and sports as well. WHO WILL PUT THIS TOGETHER ?
If the Democrats put something like this on I for one would put money up to sponsor it. I’m tired of each candidate or organization asking for more money without putting out a focused plan of action. Where is our leadership? As they say at rock concerts: MAKE SOME NOISE!
With all due respect: Cuomo used his on-air time to try and build a consumer base for the book he and his staff were writing while the pandemic raged. He blocked de Blasio from shutting the city down so he could give the order himself weeks later, putting more people at risk. He lied to New Yorkers and the American people about what he was doing to protect us while letting tens of thousands of seniors die in nursing homes. He was trying to cut Medicaid funding at the same time he pretended to battle the pandemic.
We need more than just a face who can give catchy clap backs to Trump on TV. We need legitimate leaders who have our best interest at heart. Using Cuomo as an example only hurts our fight.
Elon Musk and Donald Trump are not willing to confront the realities of the United States Constitution and the Federal Budget through serious dialogue with Congress.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
A coup is a sudden and illegal seizure of power from a government, usually carried out by a small group, such as the military or political leaders.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
The actions of Elon Musk and Donald Trump meet the definition of a coup.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
They are making radical changes to the federal government and promoting a different ideological agenda, one that lacks practical grounding. This is an illegal seizure of power from the U.S. government.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Congress must show that the actions of Elon Musk and Donald Trump align with the definition of a coup and threaten the U.S. Constitution.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Congress must create a focused and measured response.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
The outdated old way of doing things will not work to end this coup because the process will be too slow compared to the speed at which Musk and Trump are making changes. Something must change before it's too late. It's likely already too late.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Trump supporters are in a "shared psychosis" created by Trump’s delusions and distorted reality that has been transmitted to the least educated amongst us. By now, some of them are waking up to the realization that what is happening is not what they wanted. They'll become fully awake when all their Medicaid benefits have been taken away. It will be too late for them to do anything about it.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Joyce Vance is right. The courts aren't the calvary. The people not in a shared psychosis are the calvary. We are the calvary. The Democrats in Congress are the calvary.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
To end this coup, Congress needs to act decisively and urgently by invoking emergency powers, publicly exposing the full scope of the threat, and mobilizing the public to defend democratic institutions.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Additional Immediate Actions:
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
1. Declare a Constitutional Crisis
Formally recognize the actions of Elon Musk and Donald Trump as a direct threat to the U.S. Constitution and national security.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
2. Invoke Emergency Powers
Use the powers granted under the National Emergencies Act to counter ongoing attempts to undermine lawful governance and prevent further damage.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
3. Fast-Track Legislation
Pass emergency legislation to restrict executive overreach and curb private actors from interfering with government operations.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
4. Empower Whistleblowers
Provide legal protection and incentives for insiders to reveal unconstitutional actions and secret agendas.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
5. Direct Public Mobilization
Urge immediate civic action through mass communication campaigns, encouraging public protest, legal advocacy, and grassroots engagement.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
6. Engage State and Local Governments
Partner with state governors and local officials to safeguard democratic processes and block unlawful federal orders.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
7. Secure Critical Agencies
Protect institutions like the Department of Justice and the intelligence community from political interference.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
8. Demand Media Accountability
Hold media platforms accountable for spreading misinformation and require factual reporting on government actions.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
9. Coordinate with Global Allies
Work with international partners to defend democratic norms and isolate anti-democratic forces.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
The time for slow bureaucratic processes is over. Swift, bold, and collective action is required to preserve our constitutional democracy.
*SIGH* How did the media narrative/public opinion on COVID work out, Jennifer?
You’re so on top of it with incisive media criticism and yet keep arguing that Democrats can message their way though our media/algorithm/misinformation catastrophe. Do you see the disconnect??
Democrats need to adopt a "wartime footing" in their approach to engagement.
I now know the Democrats are posting daily on insta but we need daily press conferences.
Yes, daily. To include: status of Democratic actions, status of legal challenges against Trump, BIRD FLU updates, status of DOGE intrusion, and the impact of DOGE cuts-- personal stories or lives affected, or I'm sorry to say deaths resulting from DOGE cuts.
These briefings could form the basis of any historic take on Trump and this era.
We are in the midst of a government takeover right before our eyes. We have no one to speak or fight for us. We are BEGGING Democrats to get a spine transplant to a BACKBONE to help save our Country. So far crickets. Or cowards? Unify Democrats , strengthen yourselves and let’s GIT IT!!!
