Reporters are telling gripping human stories, connecting the dots from DC to main street, going beyond acronyms to explain what government agencies do & giving voice to concerns of regular people
Conservatives just won in Germany! People are seeing the goodness of this philosophy. We are closing boarders, keeping men out of girls sports and getting the slackers out of our bloated government’s. We are protecting lawful people and prosecuting criminals! We are Americans, not wimpy whiners who just throw money at every problem. We expect people to work, if they are capable, and contribute to help those who unfortunately not capable. We care for the sick, the poor and those who need a helping hand. We love our children and will send them to college if they have the intellect to succeed. We expect to pay for our college education and not dictate that those who chose not to go to collage will have to pay for us! We live our country and honor our flag and those who fought to keep it free. We recognize we are not perfect and that we do not have all the answers and we are willing to make mistakes. We expect to help other countries, sacrifice some of our brave service personnel in their defense but we will no longer be taken advantage of by our allies. We expect our government to protect all our citizens and we expect our government employees to deliver a fair day’s work for a fair wage and benefits. It is pretty simple, fairness!
Shit. All news is local until all the local papers are owned by big conglomerates. I canceled my local paper because they nose dived into the right wing nonsense and are owned by USA TODAY. Same with radio and local broadcast news. Nothing is local anymore.
Why are Veterans all across this nation not getting together to support we the people in defending this nation from this small group of people bent on destroying our government. I will ask the same question of all the young people across this nation. Why are you remaining silent on campus. What is happening is going to affect you more than your parents and grandparents in the future. Now not later is the time to speak up while you still have the chance to.
There are over 270 million eligible voters in the United States. At this moment in time we have a so called President DT and a group of unqualified minions (a very small group) destroying our government piece by piece. We see the damage being done on a daily basis. The decision this group is making is hurting a lot of innocent people. This group is telling you it is in this nations best interest. Eliminating large groups of government workers who have been responsible for protecting this nation and its people is not in the best interest of we the people. If over 270 million people are willing to stand by and not stand up for each other and let this destruction continue every person in this nation will pay a terrible price for freedom lost. Take action now to stop this insanity before it is too late. This is not a Republican or Democrat or independent issue, it is a question of survival. I am disappointed that the media outlets are not more concerned about what they are seeing and getting we the people to take action.
You, and people like you across the country are doing invaluable work. As a former political street and farm organizer ( 30 yrs), I can tell you and those reading my comment that the most important thing going on is that people know they are not alone or outnumbered in this war against the imposition of a global fascist, tecnotronic dictatorship. People are emboldened to step out of their “ comfort zone" upon seeing, and hearing people nationally and internationally standing united in the fight for the future of humankind.
Kudos! for this Post and reminding us where the news starts, and how ppl get their start. I was only 9yo in 1963 and I can remember watching Dan Rather on television reporting from the local Dallas CBS affiliate, broadcast nationwide.
Some people are beyond worrying about anything political, or the FBI, or the Constitution, or the law, or the military generals, or NATO, or Canada, or the Ukraine, or Russia.
There are of course the poor immigrants who so many cared so little about. They and their children have become forgotten in the increasing suffering and turmoil.
And now there are so many working class Americans, civil servants, and non-government employees whose jobs were supported by government contracts or grants, and dozens of other’s jobs in each community that every government funded salary helped support, who are worried about where they and their children will be sleeping or living tomorrow or if they can hold on to their house and their car and if they have any chance of keeping their current jobs or any chance of finding another job with so many people so quickly becoming unemployed.
They don’t need information on how to fight monsters or how to fight tyranny or how to save democracy or when and where to protest.
They need information on how to survive and care for their families as the government systems that employed them and the government systems that might have helped them in this time of need are collapsing around them.
Where is the infrastructure for the working class to survive unemployment in this new American society under this new totalitarian regime? Where are the soup kitchens and the unemployment lines? Or is this new Republican regime so hateful and heartless and cruel so as not even have considered that? Let them eat cake?
