More Local News! Maybe we'll see small outfits springing up in towns where local news has been killed off. It's the individuals/neighbors stories that show us the truth of any community!
You, and people like you across the country are doing invaluable work. As a former political street and farm organizer ( 30 yrs), I can tell you and those reading my comment that the most important thing going on is that people know they are not alone or outnumbered in this war against the imposition of a global fascist, tecnotronic dictatorship. People are emboldened to step out of their “ comfort zone" upon seeing, and hearing people nationally and internationally standing united in the fight for the future of humankind.
Kudos! for this Post and reminding us where the news starts, and how ppl get their start. I was only 9yo in 1963 and I can remember watching Dan Rather on television reporting from the local Dallas CBS affiliate, broadcast nationwide.
Our States Newsroom paper is outstanding. I read it every day and it has enabled me to start sending my thoughts to my state legislators in addition to the US ones.
Shit. All news is local until all the local papers are owned by big conglomerates. I canceled my local paper because they nose dived into the right wing nonsense and are owned by USA TODAY. Same with radio and local broadcast news. Nothing is local anymore.
Wish that were true in Western Pennsylvania. TV, newspapers… Hell even NPR tell very little of the truth.
And except for Summer Lee even the Democrats we elected are on the wrong side of the truth.
Shapiro, Fetterman, all of yinz - you are giving away our freedom and helping Corporate America take food out of our pantries, health care out of our reach…
Start a recall on every Republican House and Senator not stopping the downloading int A.I. of every Americans Social Security number and private data! The world will have access to all your private info. Their goal is to burn down America and rise a dictator
Any evil greedy, deranged idiot can burn down and destroy a fellow human, an institution of goodness, a monument, an organization, a society, a country, a Government. It’s called project 666.
It takes God inspired intelligence, goodness, and human greatness to encourage and build up our fellow person, honor our true unabridged history, access to books, education and the beauty of the arts to inspire creativity and the talents of all, preserve our historical buildings and monuments, to help all benefit from an honest, truthful and just society that cares for one another , and shares resources equitably at all stages of life, regardless of health or economic prosperity!
My local ABC News station didn’t even play it on the news that Hegseth and his team leaked top secret information to a reporter. But if it was Biden in office, that would’ve been breaking news, and would’ve been talked about for hours and hours. I was totally disgusted that that wasn’t the top story or even a story on the news
